Hi girls,
I’m Carla Raguseo from Rosario. I work at A.R.I.C.A.N.A. and I was one of the lucky teachers who traveled to Austin in January. It was an unforgettable experience! You shouldn’t worry about anything. Just relax and try to make the most of it!
Check out the Photostory I created to tell my low-intermediate students about the trip. Click HERE to see the album and listen to the audio.
I look forward to receiving your comments.

dear carla , i am taking a view at your website and it’s really excellent. I wanted to ask you if you have any advice for enjoying our stay at Austin. thanks for your comments, joe
Hi Joe,
I know we all approach this kind of experiences in a different way so, I can only tell you about the way I feel about it. Since this is a multicultural exchange, I think we should be really open-minded and ready to share the experience with all the people who are involved. Don’t be afraid to reach out to them and make plans to keep in touch.
Communication with colleagues worldwide is a sure path to professional development and ongoing cooperation. And… of course, have fun and enjoy every minute of it!
Let’s see if some of the other participants have any other pieces of advice to share with you all.
Best regards,
Carla
Hi Carla!
I am Ernesto. I live in a small town in Jujuy.
And you are right! Your comments and advices help me (and us) to lower the anxiety. It is still incredible for me to think of traveling to the US. It was my impossible dream (up to now) because of my economic situation (I know, every teacher in Argentina has the same problem).
I’m sure I’ll make the most of it. And I need it to develop my “follow up” project here in El Carmen, Jujuy.
By the way, your web site is wonderful! Congratulations.
Ernesto.
Hi Ernesto!
I know what it feels like when “impossible” or what seemed to be “unlikely dreams” come true. And, you know what? It’s no coincidence. We all have worthy views or special talents to share with the world. This is just the right chance to make them known.
Unfortunately, I’ve never been to Jujuy, but I’d love to. What levels do you teach?
Good luck with your follow up project! Just let us know if you need us to give you a hand.
Hugs,
Carla
Hi Carla!
Jujuy is waiting for you! It’s a wonderful province, particularly at Carnival.
I teach at secondary and tertiary levels, and the Ministry has proposed me to organize a new English Teaching Career for this year (profesorado) in my town, so I’m working hard on this project.
Carla, a question: What’s the weather like in Austin in February? Because of the warm clothes I have to take there. ( I don’t like carrying too many clothes or suitcases!)
Thank you for your immediately reply.
Ernesto.
Dear Carla,
once again, great site and thanks for everything you offer in it!
All the details you’ve provided are really necessary for us the lucky ones going to Texas in a few days.
Let’s keep in touch, then.
All the best

Hi Sandra and Ernesto once again!
As regards the weather, this is a great time to visit Austin. Even though it’s winter now, the average temperature during the day is 15 to 20 ºC. Have a look at the photos! A t-shirt and a light jacket were enough. However, early in the morning and in the evening it’s usually colder (about 5ºC).
I’ll post more info about the weather soon.
